The Last Dance

Push the furniture to the edge of the room, put on your glittery boob tube and turn up the volume!

We’re bringing you afew remixed gems that never saw a commercial release in the UK.
In 2002 STEPS’ final album The Last Dance was released – originally billed as an album of rarities, bonus tracks and such like. The final result was a PWL reliant package which was dominated by remixes – most of which had been available elsewhere.

The release catered only to the most hardcore of fans – and many believe was released only yo fulfil contractual obligations.

Really Saying Something today brings you the best of the unreleased mixes.

All my dreams have come to nothing….

If Tragedy was steps official anthem, coming an extremely close second would be ONe For Sorrow.

A beautiful summer track that starts of as a beautiful ballad turning into a dancefloor stomper, about a lost love.
The track was remixed and used to try and crack the American market, with little success.

The track has become a fan favourite and norrowly missed hitting the number one spot – a recurring theme with many of the groups releases.
The video was shot in Italy, right next to the most glamourous of locations -  a sewage works!
One for Sorrow is also the most officially remixed steps track! Today we bring you 10 mixes of the track!

Not To Be Confused with STDs….

tsdIt’s February 1996 the Spice Girls are 6 months away, Eternal are riding high in the charts as the UK’s premier girl group and all of that is about to change…..

Claire, Bonnie & Cossie -TSD – are about to burst into the charts with their infectious tunes.
Well, maybe burst isn’t the right word – more like a damp fizzling defective firework, they sparked and just burnt out. Their debut single Heart & Soul limped into the UK singles chart at the dizzying heights of of number 69, the follow up Baby I Love You fared slightly better at #64

So what does TSD stand for? Absolutely nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada.
It’s such a shame that their name sounds like a particularly virilant STD…
How did they come up with such an intriguing band name? “We just chose a letter of the alphabet we each liked” – now there’s real girl poweer for you!

However, it’s lucky for us that TSD were a failure. One member went to become ‘The Voice’ of one of the UKs most successful pop acts in recent history – Steps.

By Popular demand

Another live track by popular demand – we’ve had a few request for this particular live track.
During the Gold Great Hits Arena tour, Lee had a Ricky Martin moment. His performance came with a warning from the delightful Faye who informed the audience that “he does shake his bum a lot!”

Faye Tozer – Secret Room

In a post-steps world you’d be expecting 5 solo recording deals with varying degrees of success.

In a strange turn of events that is not the case.

Faye Tozer spen her pre-steps life singing cabaret, so we already knew that this girl could hold a note. Her contribution to steps albums and tours proved she had the song-writing and production skills to carve out a solo career.

Just stick to looking hot…

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Lee Latchford Evans was just there to make up the numbers and give the teenage girls (and gay guys) someone to lust after.

The casual fan may think that Lee’s sole contribution to the group was the faux-rap in debut single 5,6,7,8.

But dig a little deeper and you’ll find some co-writing credits and some half decent songs which were performe dlive on tour, and in one case ended up on the Tweenies’ album!

This little gem sees mr Latchford Evans take on a rock style track on the summer 200 arena tour.

Post-steps he now sings with The Latch.

Can’t Take away this feeling we R Dancing.

The first track we feature this weekend became an unofficial anthem during the summer of 2000.

During each and every tour each member of STEPS would sing a solo track, and one track during the Steptacular Tour became an instant fan favourite.

‘R Dancing’ was Faye’s solo effort, which she wrote & produced. Tapping into the current Garage revolution that was taking over the UK music scene, the track mixes pop & Garage.

Rumours were abound that the track had been given to dance outfit Shanks and Bigfoot after the tour and the track would appear on their album. The rumour Mill worked overtime to even suggest that Faye would provide guest vocals on the track.

Unfortunately the track never again saw the light of day.
