Cathy Dennis – Sweet Dreams My LA EX
Cathy Dennis is truly a pop icon – Singer, songwriter, bit part actress in Miami 7 and possibly the person who saved Kylie’s career.
From the begining of her career Cathy was involved in every aspect of the creation of her songs – writing, co-writing, production – even playing the keyboards and harmonica.
The early 1990’s saw cathy have a string of hits in the UK, Asia & the USA. Her tracks embodied the 1990’s dance music revolution.
She has sold one million albums and two million singles worldwide, yet still manages to remain faithful to herself and her music. “My music isn’t a business thing at all – it’s for me primarily.” Not anywhere is this more evident than when she abandoned her third album mid-way through the production process, unhappy with the style and path it was taking. She had about 10 songs for another ’soul’ album (to be called ‘Inspiration’) and was planning to do a single, but she decided to carry on writing.
Her writing credits are impressive – she wrote smash hit singles for Kylie Minogue, Hear’say, Will Young & Britney Spears. She’s written tracks for various other artists including Kelly Clarkson, Dannii Minogue, Gareth Gates, S Club /7/8/juniors, Janet Jackson, Emma Bunton & Delta Goodrem.
And of course, we can’t forget Rachel Stevens….
The first member of of S Club to release a solo single, with a song rejected by both Kylie & Britney Spears.
RSS brings you Cathy’s Version of this fabulous track, and quite frankly it’s so good she should have kept it for herself!
Cathy – we salute you!
